Lord's Media Centre: When Cricket Met BIM

Long and Partners were part of the Knight Harwood contractor led design & build project team who delivered the 2016/17 renovation to the iconic Media Centre at Lord's Cricket Ground. Responsible from RIBA Work stage 1 through to Completion Long & Partners together with their sustainability team RES developed the building services design founded upon IES Thermal modelling techniques. This ensured optimised plant selection delivering the lowest carbon impact air-conditioning together carefully integrated power, data and LED lighting.

The Teams investment in BIM enabled the increased capacity systems consequent on the Latest Satellite Broadcasting techniques to be supplanted within the form of the existing structure. These improved energy efficient systems with vastly increased capacity have been delivered whilst providing the added bonus of an additional 15% of internal floor area for the Client.

Long & Partners Specialist Lighting Team formed a core part of the BIM approach. The resultant crisp illumination is delivered by with incredible visual impact. This consistent with the contemporary image the building projects.
